Support the project

AstralDemons is free to play. Registration, the client, all six races, all nine archetypes, the Astral and the raids are open to anyone who logs in and never sends a coin to anybody. This page is not a storefront. It explains where a free server’s money comes from, and why we ask for support instead of charging for entry.

Where the money goes

An Allods 3.0 server is not one machine under a desk. It needs a rented box with room to spare in memory and disk, bandwidth, separate machines for testing and databases, backups, attack protection, a domain, and somewhere to host the client download. All of it is billed every month regardless of how many people happen to be online today.

The second half is work. Rebuilding 3.0, Game of Gods, means digging through old builds, fixing mechanics that did not come back on their own, debugging Astral layers, answering tickets. People do this in their free time, but time is a resource too, and it is easier to give when the hardware bill is not also coming out of their own pockets.

Why it is voluntary

The project is not trying to earn. It is trying to last. A subscription would cut off half the people it was built for: the ones who log in to see Sarnaut again after work. Charging at the door would turn the server into a service, and a service is held to a different set of expectations.

Voluntary contributions work the other way round. Those who can and want to pay do; everyone plays. There are no limits on playtime, on level or on access to content for people who have not paid, and there never will be.

What money will never buy

The core principle is short: support does not sell an advantage. Contributions do not hand out items that are not in the game, do not speed up gear out of the Astral, do not raise your stats and do not open mechanics that are closed to everyone else. A layer you cleared, a set you assembled and a win at Witch’s Hollow stay the result of playing, not of paying.

That is not high-mindedness, it is arithmetic. A server where the wallet decides PvP dies faster than a server short on rent money. People leave a project not because it is poor, but because the game has stopped meaning anything.

How to contribute

The list of payment methods, and what exactly you can receive in return as a thank-you, is published separately and kept up to date. We deliberately name no amounts and no payment details here, so that you never act on a stale one. Look for current information in the news and on the payment page, and if something does not add up or a payment fails, write to support.

One request: never send money to details that somebody whispered you in game or posted in chat under someone else’s name. The administration does not collect contributions through private messages. Buying and selling in-game property for real money between players is not supported by the rules — there is more on that on the rules page.

One last thing. If there is nothing to give, just play. A live server runs on people talking in chat, on groups that actually fill, and on there being someone to take into the Astral with you. That counts too, and it counts no less than money.
